Stonehenge, Wiltshire @ October 2018
Stonehenge
Walk in the footsteps of your Neolithic ancestors at Stonehenge – one of the wonders of the world and the best-known prehistoric monument in Europe. Explore the ancient landscape on foot and step inside the Neolithic Houses to discover the tools and objects of everyday Neolithic life. Visit the world-class exhibition and visitor centre with 250 ancient objects and come face to face with a 5,500 year-old man.
It is not a big hassle to get to Stonehenge from London. Firstly, from Waterloo Station, you should take South Western Railway train to Salisbury. The trip is around one hour and 30 minutes. Make sure to get a round-trip ticket, since one way would cost you around £40, and the round-trip ticket is only about £4 more expensive than the one-way fare. When you arrive in Salisbury, a medieval cathedral city in the southern English county of Wiltshire, you will notice a green bus named Stonehenge Tour outside the Salisbury station. You can also get on this bus from the city center as well. They run hourly to and from Stonehenge starting from 10 am. Stonehenge Tour bus accepts only cash on board and the round-trip ticket is £15. However, you may also get a ticket for Stonehenge on board as well. In this case, you will end up paying £30 (both for round trip travel and Stonehenge admission) which is, I believe, a pretty good deal. If you want to buy a ticket for Stonehenge in advance that is highly suggested at a peak season, it would cost you around £18 online.
